I've given up on sifting through the football threads where there seem to be an abundance of 17 year olds posting there. It's Game of the Year this, Game of the Year that. This forum is no bs and there are quality cappers in here who get the job done silently and with or without write-ups. There's no worries of being bashed and there is always positive support when a capper goes down. You can't say that much if you lose up there in nfl or ncaaf. I hope to provide more winners than I am now, but I like what this little group is doing. It's a long season and I'm sure we'll pick it up. Keep it up guys and we'll be more profitable in the end. :103631605

PS. Mistake on the thread title, should be compared lol.

Well said, wildemu :toast:

By the way, I think the best EPL play for this weekend is:

ASTON VILLA (+1.5) -120 over Chelsea (Pinnacle)

i'm looking at that game, but I'm really liking Bolton getting the +1/2 against Liverpool. I think that win at Portsmouth really lifted their spirits, and their undefeated at the Reebock stadium. Pool's back 4 looked shaky against a turkish team. For now, I'm just getting a vibe on what should be wagered but I want this to be a positive weekend so I have to be careful. I've been going 1-1 since monday and losing a unit in the process. Just better money management is in order.

I'll post tomorrow afternoon as I don't think the english championship or holland matches will warrant a play.

Agree w/ you Wildemu. I like Everton over Man City. For a flyer on a dog, Reading and Reading Draw v. West Ham. Hammers are a mess right now and will only have two days off before playing on Sunday.

Scouser's back line is vulnerable b/c Rafa is a moron and has benched Hyypia. Just don't understand that unless there is something wrong with him but he isn't showing up on any injury reports.

Damn right mate. That's the play for me. I think the bookies are fucking crazy to offer +1.5 considering the form of Villa. Unbeaten, lots of confidence, well-organized, and pace in attack. Come on Villa!!:toast:

The win over Portsmouth was a very emotional game for Bolton. I think you you are correct in saying that the win lifted their spirits.

I also think we will see Portsmouth go into a bit of a tailspin as they lose their 2nd match of the year, away to Tottenham on Sunday.

All right, let's get a head start. Here are my initial thoughts.

Charlton is in horrible form and I rate them maybe a 10-20 percent chance for a win and maybe 30 percent of a draw. Arsenal is in fine form ever since that United win.

Villa is a good away team and producing positive results even at home. Chelsea are always very difficult to beat at stamford bridge. I can't see villa winning this but 1.5 is a big handicap for such a hot team.

Everton's form slipped off a little bit since their hot start. Manchester City is horrible away. I have to see what Moyes says in the papers tomorrow.

Sheffield United is downright bad. Their coach seems clueless in the premiership and I think they are a "lock" to be relegated. October looks horrible for them and I wouldn't be surprised if 'Boro pick up a good result against them.

West Ham is in disarray right now. Reading may be a good bet with a draw for the cover. I have to read the papers until saturday for that one though.

Blackburn and Wigan is a tough fixture. Rovers are flying high at the moment and Wigan are no pushovers. It's a tough one but I would lean towards Blackburn.

Manchester United will probably win. Newcastle is a tricky side that can't be trusted on that kind of a handicap.

It'll be interesting to see how Portsmouth will respond to their first loss. I'm leaning towards Tottenham to stick it to them.

Watford is a favorite team of mine so far with their determined attitude yet bad luck. Kind of describes my season so far lol. They'll be looking for the 3 points here but I'll be monitoring Fulham's injury information until Monday morning.

Wildemu,
There's no doubt that the soccer Forum on the RX is the most mature as long as I dont come in too much. The trouble I feel with soccer is, out of all the sports in the world, this is the one that has the most people analysing it, so unless you ( me, us) are putting in as much time or have a good trick, winning is a tough proposition. Laying on the other hand is equally hard as the markets get to critical mass. I have tried both over many Years without success except for when I found a niche in a certain division, otherwise I found the whole thing too time comsuming to make a profit compared to other Sports.
Good Luck Anyways. :drink:

There are always gems to be found in this sport. However, when you are looking over 30+ matches for a day, it's very easy to overlook spreads where a team like Grasshoppers will thrash their opponents. We get too picky with one match and overlook the fact that the game underneath us has a great chance for a totals wager. That's what I think is my problem at least.

For Italy Serie A

Torino vs. Lazio. I think Lazio can collect something from this game. Torino is a mess right now and the new boss still needs time for this team to gel.

Atalanta/Reggina is a coin toss.

It'll be interesting to see how Inter responds to their pitiful performance against Bayern. They SHOULD beat Cagliari who are not off to a great start.

Fiorentina should beat Catania but giving them a -1 handicap is a bit too much.

Livorno had a positive result in the UEFA Cup today. That confidence should carry over in a somewhat tricky fixture with Messina.

Empoli will provide a stiff challenge against Roma which could turn into a possible over. Empoli have this statistic where they score at least once in almost every game.

I think Udinese -1 +109 has great value. They are so tough to beat at home and Ascoli doesn't have the greatest away form.

Chievo/Palermo is a no bet. Both teams are equally capable of winning that game.

Winny:

I remember you saying this in joey's thread regarding the EPL. However, do you feel the same way about the other leagues as well? Certainly the EPL has some tough analysis by people all over the world. But I can't say the same thing about some of the lesser Scandinavian leagues or other European leagues.

The NFL fan base comes from a country of 300 million people and therefore has a lot of scrutiny as well. But the soccer teams are local to each country and don't get the same scrutiny that the American teams do with the exception of the EPL.

This is one of the main reasons I like to cap soccer. Only the people of each country know their teams very well.

Yes, the soccer forum is good. ql's system is very interesting, and I'm looking forward to JackDee, wildemu and joeyfitzclick getting into a groove. Also, if Alex Golz would start posting his picks in English, more people might benefit. I think he's hitting 64% since he started posting here (102-57), half the time, I'm betting on the wrong side he intended.

Mr.Wild,

Agree with Lazio analysis, but Roma Total:

The loss to Valencia left a psychological scar. A rude awakaning to probably
the Best team in Serie A.
(4-3-3) Probable Roma formation. &
(4-3-3) Probable Empoli formation,
will lead to "OLd style Italian soccer" with few chances far and between.
Also, don't expect Totti to pivot the team for than 50 minutes.
Barring any penalty kicks, I don't expect a single gaol to be scored in
this game. If there is one, it's going to materialize extremely late in the
match.
Note: Back four D for Roma are the Best 4 man unit in Serie A.

Result 0-0, or 1-0 nil at best.

Cheers.

Agree, I can't make head's or tails of Alex's picks and there is even an explanation early in the thread.
